JUST IN: A report and independent testing have reignited privacy concerns at LinkedIn after a script capable of detecting more than 6,000 Chrome extensions and collecting device data was revealed.


The company defends the practice as a security measure, but the case once again raises questions about the lengths to which major platforms will go to monitor user activity.
A report known as BrowserGate accuses LinkedIn of scanning more than 6,000 extensions installed on Chromium browsers.
