The China Theatre Association Releases the "Top Ten Actions" for the Revitalization of Drama

To fully implement the Three-Year Action Plan for Theater Revitalization (2026–2028), jointly issued by five departments earlier, the China Theatre Association held a symposium in Beijing on February 28 and announced the launch of the theater revitalization “Top Ten Initiatives.” Chen Yongquan, Secretary of the Party Branch of the China Theatre Association and Vice Chairman stationed at the Association, introduced that the “Top Ten Initiatives” include: deepening reforms of the China Theatre Plum Blossom Award, the Cao Yu Theatre Literature Award, and the China Theatre Festival award-and-performance program mechanism, and encouraging more performances for audiences; actively giving full play to the exemplary and leading role of recipients of the Cao Yu Theatre Literature Award, and building a solid foundation for theater from the source of creation; carrying out national support projects for rare theatrical genres, increasing efforts in protection and transmission, organizing exhibitions and performances of excellent plays, and expanding the audience base and influence of rare theatrical genres.

The “Top Ten Initiatives” also include: building a team of high-quality leading talent; promoting the inheritance, popularization, and dissemination of traditional classics; implementing the oral history project for Plum Blossom Award artists; helping high-quality theatrical resources reach local grassroots directly; creating a favorable theater criticism ecosystem; building a national brand for youth theater activities; and exploring new international pathways for Chinese theater.
