Professional game designer Chad Steingraber has shared a data-backed update on XRP exchange balances, presenting a concise snapshot of current market conditions.
In a recent tweet, he reported that total XRP held on exchanges stands at 16,089,892,828. The figure was accompanied by a detailed chart summarizing exchange distribution, recent inflows, and longer-term changes.
The attached data indicates that these holdings are spread across 41 exchanges, with a notable concentration among the largest platforms.
The top three exchanges account for over two-thirds of the total supply on exchanges, while the top ten collectively hold more than 94%. This concentration suggests that a relatively small number of platforms continue to dominate XRP liquidity.
Short-Term Movement and Market Activity
The dataset included in Steingraber’s post shows that, over 24 hours, exchanges recorded a net inflow of approximately 2.16 million XRP. This represents a marginal increase of 0.01%, with 13 exchanges gaining balances and 20 experiencing declines. These figures point to mixed short-term activity, where inflows and outflows remain closely balanced.
However, the broader trend appears more significant. Since February 24, 2025, exchange balances have declined by over 3.08 billion XRP, representing a 16.08% decrease. This longer-term reduction forms the central focus of the post and frames the current supply dynamics as part of an ongoing shift rather than an isolated event.
Interpretation from Community Responses
Another commenter, CatMatt, introduced a different perspective by suggesting that exchange-held XRP may include assets that are not actively available for sale. This interpretation suggests that some holdings belong to long-term custodial accounts or institutional reserves, which may not directly contribute to market liquidity.
Long-Term Supply Trend
Steingraber’s post primarily presents the data without extensive interpretation, but the figures themselves indicate a sustained decline in XRP held on exchanges. The reduction aligns with a pattern often associated with asset accumulation or migration to private storage solutions.
By focusing on verifiable exchange metrics and historical comparisons, the update provides a clear view of how XRP distribution has evolved. The consistent decrease in exchange balances remains the defining takeaway, supported by both the numerical data and the accompanying commentary.
