On March 30, local time, the spring plenary session of Mongolia’s State Great Khural was held in Ulaanbaatar. That evening, the session considered and adopted a resolution appointing Ni Ugeler as Prime Minister of Mongolia. Earlier that day, at the plenary session, it first considered and approved the resignation request submitted by Ni Ugeler, Chairman of the State Great Khural, paving the way procedurally for his transition to Prime Minister. The session then moved into the formal discussion phase regarding his qualifications for the prime ministerial appointment. As Ugeler stepped down as Chairman of the State Great Khural, the position is currently temporarily vacant; it is temporarily filled by Deputy Chairman Za Bat-Erden acting in the role, while the new choice for Chairman of the State Great Khural is yet to be elected. Analysts believe this personnel adjustment is an important political arrangement made in the context of the resignation of the former Prime Minister Zandan Shatar. After Ugeler became the next government head of Mongolia, the direction of his future policies has attracted close attention. (CCTV News)
