Wang Yi had a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Fidan

On March 25, 2026, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a phone call with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan by appointment.

Wang Yi said that the right and wrong of the fighting in the Middle East are very clear, and the international community has a necessity to take an objective and fair stance on this. At present, the fighting is rapidly spilling over and spreading to the entire region. The top priority is to actively mediate and promote talks, seize opportunities for peace, and push for the fighting to come to an end. China supports regional countries in staying calm and responding rationally to the current crisis from a long-term and fundamental perspective, insisting on resolving contradictions and differences through dialogue. China supports the Turkish side in playing a constructive role in helping restore negotiations.

Fidan said that regarding the current situation in the Middle East, Turkey’s position is highly consistent with China’s. Both sides oppose launching military strikes without authorization by the United Nations Security Council and oppose the fighting spilling over further. China has long been committed to safeguarding peace in the region and in the world, and believes that China will continue to play an important role. Turkey is willing to work together with China to make efforts to promote a ceasefire and halt hostilities, so that the world can return to the right track of peaceful development.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues in other regions. (CCTV News)
