The 2026 first-half teacher qualification interview will be held on May 16-17.

On April 2, according to the Guangdong Provincial Education Examinations Authority, in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s unified arrangements, the National Primary and Secondary School Teachers’ Qualification Examination—Interviews for the first half of 2026 will be held from May 16 to May 17, 2026. Online registration will be open from 10:00 on April 17 to 16:00 on April 20. Candidates who have completed registration may begin printing their admission tickets starting at 10:00 on May 11, by logging in to the “China Education Examinations Network.”

Only candidates who meet the relevant requirements and have taken the written test, with passing results in each subject within the validity period, or who are exempt from the written test subjects in accordance with regulations, may register to take the interview that matches the written-test subjects. Applicants for teacher qualification recognition must not have reached the legally prescribed retirement age in the country. Mainland candidates must choose the examination district under the jurisdiction of the city where their household registration, residence permit application location, or school enrollment location is. Candidates from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan may choose the examination district based on the actual situation. For candidates applying in Guangzhou to take the teacher qualification interview for vocational secondary school professional course teachers and vocational secondary school internship instructors, they must choose the “Guangzhou Vocational Secondary Professional Course Examination District” as the application examination district. Candidates applying in Guangzhou for teacher qualifications in Japanese and Russian (including for senior high, vocational secondary, and junior high) must choose the “Guangzhou (Nansha) Examination District” as the application examination district.

The interview content includes sections such as lesson preparation (or activity design), teaching demonstration (or demonstration), and defense (or statement). The interview mainly evaluates fundamental teaching competencies such as professional ethics, psychological qualities, grooming and demeanor, verbal expression, and thinking quality, as well as basic teaching skills such as instructional design, implementation, and evaluation. Candidates may log in to the “China Education Examinations Network” to review the examination outlines for each subject. Teacher qualification interviews for teachers of professional courses and internship instructors in secondary vocational schools are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the “Guangdong Province Secondary Vocational School Professional Course Teacher and Internship Instructor Teacher Qualification Examination Interview Outline.”

Candidates who have obtained the passing certificate for the National Primary and Secondary School Teachers’ Qualification Examination and are within the validity period may, in each spring or autumn, apply to the education administrative departments at their place of household registration, place of residence (required to have a local residence permit and for it to be within the validity period), and the location of the school they attend (limited to current graduates and enrolled graduate students, including students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) for recognition of the corresponding teacher qualifications. Residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan apply to the education administrative department located at the place where the teacher qualification examination is held for recognition of the corresponding teacher qualifications.
