The U.S. Department of Justice requests the federal circuit court of appeals to delay the tariff refund order.

In local time on February 27, the U.S. Department of Justice asked the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to temporarily halt the issuance of an order requiring execution of tariff refunds. Previously, after some small businesses called on the court to order the government to refund the tariffs it has already collected as soon as possible following last week’s Supreme Court ruling that was unfavorable to the Trump administration, court filings showed that the Trump administration did not deny that it might need to pay refunds and interest, but asked the court to “stay for 90 days the entry of an enforcement order,” so that the executive and legislative branches would have time to assess follow-up options. The Department of Justice said the complexity of the issue calls for “a careful process, not a rushed push.” (CCTV News)
