I just noticed something interesting in global wealth statistics. It seems that the top 10 richest people in the world in January 2026 have reached entirely new heights, mostly consisting of individuals from the tech sector. We're talking about hundreds of billions of dollars that have simply shifted into the hands of innovators and entrepreneurs.
Elon Musk ranks first, and this is truly a record. $726 billion in personal wealth—no one in modern history has ever had such a level of wealth. His growth is linked to SpaceX receiving a crazy valuation, Starlink expanding, Tesla continuing to grow, plus his influence in artificial intelligence and neurotechnology becoming stronger.
Next are the classic tech giants. Larry Page, one of Google's founders, has around $270 billion—Alphabet dominates in AI, which helps a lot. Jeff Bezos is third with $255 billion; Amazon is still growing thanks to AWS and its logistics network. After him, Sergey Brin with $251 billion, and Larry Ellison with $248 billion.
The top 10 wealthiest people in the world look like this: Mark Zuckerberg in sixth place with $233 billion, Bernard Arnault with $205 billion, Steve Ballmer with $170 billion, Jensen Huang with $156 billion, and Warren Buffett rounds out the list with $151 billion.
What's happening here? First, artificial intelligence and cloud computing are growing exponentially. Space technologies and semiconductors are receiving huge valuations. American tech companies simply dominate this list. And most importantly, founders who haven't sold their shares have gained enormous benefits from holding their positions long-term.
This is quite indicative of where global wealth is currently concentrated and where investments are heading.
