Aeon Supermarket responds to withdrawal from the Chinese market: false information

Recently, there have been reports on social media that, starting in March, all Aeon supermarkets in the North China region will fully close, while other reports claim that Aeon’s supermarket business is about to withdraw entirely from the Chinese market. On February 28, Aeon China told Jiemian News that whether Aeon supermarkets will withdraw from places such as Tianjin will be subject to official notices; the rumor that Aeon supermarkets would withdraw entirely from China is untrue. According to information on its official website, the operating entity for Aeon China’s department store and supermarket business in the North China region is Aeon Commercial Co., Ltd., which manages Aeon supermarkets in Tianjin (TEDA, Zhongbei, Meijiang, and Jinnan stores) as well as the Yanjiao store in Hebei—totaling five stores. Previously, due to business adjustments, the Aeon supermarket Fengtai store in Beijing ended operations in May 2025; that store was the last Aeon supermarket store in the Beijing market.
