Reprinted from: China News Service
China News Service, Moscow, April 3 (Report): The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on April 3 that a Russian Su-30 fighter jet crashed while conducting flight training in the Crimea region. The crew ejected to escape.
Russian media, citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that at around 11:00 Moscow time, a Su-30 fighter jet was carrying out a routine training flight mission over the Crimea region when an accident occurred and it crashed. The crew ejected to escape and were rescued by ground search and rescue personnel. At present, the pilot is not in life-threatening danger. The Russian Ministry of Defense also emphasized that the crashed aircraft was not carrying ammunition at the time.
The Su-30 is a Russian heavy, twin-engine, two-seat, multi-role fighter aircraft developed by the Sukhoi company.
This is the second crash involving a military aircraft in the Crimea region in recent days. On March 31, a Russian An-26 military transport aircraft crashed while conducting a routine flight over the Crimea region. All 7 crew members and 23 passengers on board were killed. Preliminary information indicates that the crash was caused by a technical malfunction.
