The U.S. Senate Banking Committee is reportedly scheduled to review Wash’s nomination for U.S. Federal Reserve Chair on April 16.
Deep Tide TechFlow message: On April 04, a person with knowledge of the matter told CNBC that the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on April 16 to review Kevin Warsh’s nomination to serve as the Chair of the Federal Reserve. A separate criminal investigation into the Federal Reserve is still ongoing, and it is examining whether the current chair, Powell, made false statements to Congress regarding the expensive renovation of the Federal Reserve’s office building. And while Warsh’s nomination process is still moving forward, this could put the two parallel tracks pushed by the Trump administration at odds.
Banking Committee member Thom Tillis has already said he will not vote to confirm Warsh before the investigation is concluded. This means Trump cannot advance both processes at the same time, but by continuing to push the hearing, Trump is apparently still trying to achieve that goal. The Senate Banking Committee has not yet placed the hearing on a public schedule. (Jinshi)
