UN Commissioner Urges the US to Investigate the Attack on an Iranian Elementary School

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Türk, said on the 27th that the attack on an elementary school in Minab, Iran, is “outrageous.” He urged the United States to investigate the incident as soon as possible and to make the findings public.

In a video statement delivered at an emergency debate at the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council that day, Türk said the perpetrators are responsible for conducting a swift, fair, and transparent investigation into the case in order to lay the groundwork for subsequent accountability. He said that attacks by the United States and Israel are increasingly targeting densely populated residential areas in Iran, and that they are trying to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure. Attacks on nuclear facilities, he added, are “incomprehensibly reckless” acts.

He called on the United States and Israel to stop their attacks on Iran, and urged all parties to exercise restraint and return to the negotiating table. (Xinhua News Agency)
