On April 4, multiple sources reported that a US F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet was shot down over Iran, with two crew members successfully ejecting and escaping. One of them has been located and rescued by US special forces within Iran, while the other is still being searched for. Iranian authorities are also conducting a search and have called on local civilians for assistance. Meanwhile, Iran claims that a US A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft was shot down by a defense system near the Strait of Hormuz. US officials confirmed the aircraft’s crash but stated that the pilot has been rescued. Additionally, Iranian reports indicate that an F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jet issued an emergency signal and made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia, with the specific reasons still unclear. During the search and rescue operations, a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter involved in the mission was reportedly damaged, with witnesses stating that it emitted black smoke while leaving Iran and entering southern Iraq. Iranian media previously claimed that their air defense system had hit the helicopter. In response to these incidents, Trump stated that the crashes of US military aircraft would not affect the current negotiation process with Iran, declaring, ‘This is war.’ The situation in the Middle East remains tense, and related military developments are ongoing.
