The U.S. Senate hearing on the nomination of the Federal Reserve Chair “Vosh” is scheduled to be held on April 16.
Local time on Friday, according to Politico, Kevin Warsh, the Federal Reserve chair nominee appointed by U.S. President Trump, will attend the confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Banking Committee on April 16.
Media reports say the U.S. Treasury has confirmed Warsh’s appointment as its top priority. Derek Theurer, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs in the U.S. overseeing Warsh’s nomination, has thrown himself fully into the nomination effort.
Since Trump returned to the White House, he has been dissatisfied with the sitting Federal Reserve chair, Powell. Earlier this January, he nominated Warsh to replace Powell.
However, on the same day, a U.S. judge rejected the Trump administration’s request to reinstate subpoenas targeting Powell. Nick Timiraos, a well-known financial journalist nicknamed the “New Federal Reserve Correspondent,” said this ruling cleared the way for Pirro to appeal to a higher court. But that appeal could delay the confirmation of Warsh’s appointment as Federal Reserve chair.
Powell’s term as Federal Reserve chair will expire next month. However, in March this year, Powell said that if Warsh has not yet been confirmed when Powell’s term as Federal Reserve chair ends in May, he will continue to serve as Federal Reserve chair—an arrangement mandated by law.
