I saw these data circulating about the 100 richest men in the world from Bloomberg, and I have to say it's interesting to observe how wealth is distributed. Musk at the top with $444 billion is practically twice as rich as Bezos, then Zuckerberg at $207 billion. What stands out is how many tech founders are in the top 20.
If you look at the list of the 100 richest men in the world, you'll notice that Americans still dominate quite a bit, but more and more Chinese and Indians are making their way in. For example, Changpeng Zhao in 23rd place with $58.9 billion, or Jack Ma at 50th. It's also interesting to see that the Walton family still appears scattered between positions 13-15, all from Walmart.
Anyway, what strikes me is how quickly these numbers change. This snapshot is from the end of 2024, so they could already be different now. But it’s still a good picture of where global wealth stands. Among the 100 richest men in the world, most have made their money in tech, retail, or finance. Few are still in traditional sectors like mining or oil.
Which names surprise you the most?
