IT Home March 12 news: The AWE2026 China Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics Expo opened today (March 12) in Shanghai.

According to on-site staff, the humanoid robot on display is the third-generation humanoid robot that is about to be released. The official released version may differ slightly from the on-site version. This will also be Tesla’s first robot version for large-scale mass production. Production is planned to start by the end of 2026, with a long-term production capacity of 1 million units.

Tesla officially announced in February this year that the third-generation Tesla humanoid robot is about to make its appearance. It is expected to reach annual production of one million units. It is Tesla’s first humanoid robot to move toward mass production.

Following earlier reports, Tesla’s humanoid robot (Optimus) pilot production line has already begun operating at the Fremont factory, and the production line for the third-generation humanoid robot, which will be larger in scale, is scheduled to be built, completed, and put into production in 2026. The official said that after the robots enter large-scale production, the expected cost per unit will be kept within $20,000 (IT Home note: at the current exchange rate, about RMB 138,000).
