Once again, a one-word "Soul-Disrupting Sword"—after a big surge, XPL suddenly crashes 40%, giving us two major lessons!

“People drifting in the rivers and lakes are bound to get cut,” 🔪, recently many strong coins have experienced a "Soul-Disrupting Sword" after soaring, with sudden crashes and plummets in a short period. From SIREN earlier to yesterday’s intraday STO, the manipulators repeatedly staged bottomless cuts, and the same script played out again early this morning with the XPL token. Between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., XPL surged straight up 42%, reaching a high of $0.167; but starting at 5:10 a.m., the price plummeted over 40% within less than 5 minutes, falling below $0.12, wiping out all intraday gains.

On-chain monitoring shows that before the price spike, five new addresses on Hyperliquid deposited funds simultaneously at 1 a.m., each with over $20,000, totaling about $1.292 million. They then opened large leveraged long positions on XPL, suspected of coordinating with other platform spot buys to push up the price. During this period, these five addresses enjoyed substantial unrealized gains, with their principal more than doubled. From 4:30 to 4:40 a.m., these addresses withdrew all their margin and unrealized profits, cashing out, causing the liquidation price to jump sharply close to liquidation level. At 5:10 a.m., these five addresses were liquidated simultaneously at around $0.12971, causing the price to crash instantly, suspected of coordinated spot dumping. The total profit of these five addresses was about $1.602 million. During the surge, several major whale shorts were targeted: (0xbe1), (0x51f), (0x985), (0x45d). Their short positions were all liquidated during the rise, with a total of over $32.99 million in closed shorts. This is a classic case of "winning with less."

Repeated bloody lessons may give us two major insights:

1. The correct way to operate strong coins: set proper take-profit and stop-loss levels, and only earn within your knowledge

From SIREN to ONT and then yesterday’s STO, the myth of wealth creation from altcoins has been ongoing. Many of you probably have gained some experience on how to operate strong altcoins. First, if you chase a rising strong altcoin, be sure to set a stop-loss to prevent sudden crashes from liquidating your account. Second, set a take-profit level based on your experience or technical analysis. When the target is reached, decisively take profits. Even if the price continues to rise afterward, do not chase the rise. We only earn within our knowledge; the remaining profits are just for the 🐶 manipulators.

2. Although altcoins are in a major bear market, blindly shorting a certain altcoin for the long term may not be advisable

There was a report showing that nearly 75% of altcoins are in a long-term downtrend, constantly hitting new lows. Many long-term investors might have shorted some inactive altcoins for arbitrage, but recent market conditions prove that this may not be wise. The profits you gain after weeks or even a month of holding and paying trading fees could be wiped out within hours by a 🐶 manipulator pulling the price back into profit and then losing it. If you must short, make sure to set a proper take-profit level and don’t always aim to completely zero out your tokens!
