In Nigeria, it often feels like nobody in power wants to take responsibility.
When you speak up about poor leadership or call out politicians for not doing their job well, instead of listening, they may threaten you or even have you arrested. It makes people afraid to say the truth.
The same thing happens in schools and hospitals. If you complain about bad treatment or poor management, you risk being suspended, expelled, or punished in one way or another. So many people choose to keep quiet, even when they know something is wrong.
Because of this, the system does not improve. People in power are not used to correction, and they begin to expect only praise.
In the end, truth becomes dangerous, and silence becomes safer, even though it helps nothing change.
