Starbucks completes joint venture deal with Boyu, and its China company-operated stores will gradually transition to a franchising model.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Starbucks Corporation has issued an announcement stating that the previously announced joint venture between Starbucks and Boyu Capital has officially been completed, marking a major advance in Starbucks’ long-term strategy to achieve sustainable, self-regulated growth in China. Under the terms of the agreement, the joint venture currently operates approximately 8,000 Starbucks company-owned coffee shops, and these shops will gradually transition to a franchise model; the two parties’ shared long-term goal is ultimately to expand the number of stores to 20,000.
