The EU considers restarting energy crisis response measures to address the impact of the Iran conflict
People’s Finance News, April 1 — On March 31, European Union energy commissioner Dan Jørgensen said that the Iran conflict will lead to long-term disruption in energy markets, and that the EU is considering restarting the energy crisis response measures it took during the 2022 Ukraine crisis. That day, the EU member states’ energy ministers held a video conference to coordinate energy-related response measures. At a news briefing after the meeting, Jørgensen said that the impact of the fighting in the Middle East on energy markets will be long-lasting; even if the conflict can end quickly, the damaged energy infrastructure in the region is difficult to repair in the short term.
