U.S. stock market trend | Dow Jones drops over 500 points in early trading, WTI crude rises 13%

Markets are concerned about the U.S.-Iran war escalating again, and the Dow fell more than 500 points in the early session.

As of 9:39pm Hong Kong time, the Dow was at 45,994 points, down 571 points, or 1.23%; the S&P 500 was at 6,486 points, down 89 points, or 1.37%; the Nasdaq was at 21,416 points, down 424 points, or 1.94%.

In a nationwide address, U.S. President Trump said that the military operation against Iran has been underway for a month. He said the U.S. armed forces have achieved rapid, decisive, overwhelming victories on the battlefield, and the U.S. will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. He added that in the next two to three weeks, the U.S. will carry out extremely harsh strikes against Iran.

Oil prices surged. New York crude oil futures were trading at $113.12 per barrel, up $13, or 12.98%; London Brent crude was at $109.31 per barrel, up $8.15, or 8.06%.
