I just found out that the deadline for license plate replacement in Jalisco has already passed. If you had license plates ending in 4, 5, 6, or 7 and didn’t replace them before February 28, the benefit is basically over. Now you have to pay the full 2,500 pesos if you want to update.
The interesting part is that this isn’t just for Jalisco motorcycle plates; it also applies to all vehicles. The state government required replacing the old designs (Maguey, Minerva, Gota) with the new Collage or Cabañas models that feature QR codes and better security. But well, if you didn’t act in time, now you pay a high price.
For Jalisco motorcycle plates and cars that still haven’t been updated, original documents needed to be presented: INE, invoice or proof of ownership, proof of address, and vehicle verification. All of this had to be in good standing in the Vehicle Registry. If anything was outdated, you automatically lost the free extension.
Basically, the free motorcycle license plate replacement in Jalisco that was available until February no longer exists. Now it’s all paid. I guess next time many won’t let the deadline pass.
