Hey, the crazy temperatures just arrived, and power outages in Buenos Aires are a total mess. Last night, there were massive blackouts in the city and the suburbs, so if you lost power, you're not alone. Demand spikes during extreme heat, and the electrical system gets overwhelmed. The problem is that many of us don’t know where there are outages today or when things will return to normal.
The good news is that ENRE exists, which is the regulatory agency for all this, and they have a pretty useful real-time map. Visit the official website, select whether you're an Edesur or Edenor customer (check your bill if you don’t know), and see exactly where the outages are. It shows affected neighborhoods, the number of users without power, and all that. Plus, there's an interactive map that visually displays where the outages are in the AMBA.
If the ENRE website is overwhelmed with people trying to access it, there's another option: Aquí no hay luz. It’s a portal where users report directly if they have or don’t have power in their areas without luz. Just fill out a quick form with your neighborhood, and you're done. It’s faster when everything is saturated.
Now, if you’ve been without luz for hours, you can file an official complaint. Edesur customers can call 0800-333-3787, use the Edesur app, message on WhatsApp at +54 9 1161876995, or contact via social media. Edenor customers have the 0800-666-1000 available 24/7, can also send an SMS to 28456 with the message LUZ followed by your account number, or use WhatsApp at +54 9 11 3900-0000.
The point is, if you’re without luz for 15 hours or it cuts out more than four times in a month, you can request a bonificación. So if that happens to you, don’t miss the chance to file a claim. Meanwhile, check the official channels to see the situation in your area.
