The State Council Information Office held a press briefing today to interpret the “Government Work Report.” A reporter asked: The “Government Work Report” sets this year’s economic growth expected target at 4.5%–5%. What considerations lie behind this? Shen Danyang, head of the drafting group of the “Government Work Report” and director of the State Council Research Office, said that this year’s economic growth target is actually a target in “two sentences,” namely, “economic growth of 4.5%–5%, and in practical work, make efforts to strive for even better results.” This “two-sentence target” takes into comprehensive account changes in domestic economic operations and the external environment, balances what is needed and what is possible, and is a proactive and pragmatic goal that is “aiming high by jumping up to reach, while also keeping one’s steps steady.” (CCTV News)
