On April 2, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, presided over a regular press conference.

A journalist from the foreign media asked: It is reported that Iran has sought security assurances from China. If these assurances can be provided, could the U.S. and Iran, or Iran and the U.S., reach a ceasefire agreement? Has Iran already made such a request to China? Has China responded?

“Since the outbreak of the war involving Iran, China has been actively working to promote peace and stop fighting. Regarding the situation in which the foreign ministers of China and Iran met, we have already released a statement that you can consult.” Mao Ning said. What I can tell you is that China supports all efforts conducive to peace. We also stand ready to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties, and continue to play a role in restoring peace in the Middle East.
