Choosing a powder foundation can really be confusing, right? One that doesn’t look cakey, one that doesn’t break down easily, one that covers pores... I want all of them, but I don’t know which one to pick.

Recently, I actually tried 10 different powder foundations, and I realized that they vary completely depending on skin type and the finish you’re aiming for. Kose’s “Synchro Fit Pact EX” is impressive because it stays moisturized and doesn’t dry out even after 8 hours. Shiseido’s “Tampodoru Eclat” gives a semi-glossy finish, and Etvos’ loose type is incredibly lightweight.

For oily skin, the Make For Ever HD Skin series is truly excellent. T-zone oiliness is almost zero even after 8 hours. The fine particles also help prevent a powdery look, which is an important point.

However, if you want to completely cover pores and blemishes, choosing the right primer is also crucial. Since many powder foundations have a light application, using a beige-tinted primer can make your skin look even more beautiful.

Personally, I also think the quality of the puff is important. Having two types—one with a fuzzy surface and one with a sponge—allows you to do a full makeup in the morning and quickly touch up before heading home... I recommend having both.

For dry skin, a moist-type powder foundation is best, and for combination skin, choosing one that prevents both dryness and oiliness will help avoid mistakes. Also, the size of the mirror in the case is surprisingly important. It’s definitely more convenient to see your whole face when doing touch-ups on the go.

Since powder foundation is something you use every day, finding one that suits your skin is the most important thing. It’s worth trying out different options.
