Look, the internal Peronist conflict in Buenos Aires remains a mess. Recently, Kicillof and Máximo Kirchner reached an agreement to avoid internal elections within the PJ, but that only covers party matters. The other disputes remain unresolved, and honestly, another chapter of tension seems inevitable.

Last December, they couldn't agree on the authorities of the provincial Senado. Now, they have scheduled a preparatory session for February 26th at 3 p.m. to try to resolve the situation. Verónica Magario presides over the Cámara, but without internal agreements, things are getting complicated.

The key point is the first vicepresidencia of the Senado, which is one of those positions everyone wants. Technically, it is the third in the line of succession of the government. The names circulating are Mario Ishii, Sergio Berni, and Malena Galmarini, each supported by different sectors of peronismo. Máximo Kirchner and the Cristinista sector have their candidates, but so do the supporters of Kicillof. It’s the typical fight: they are fighting to see who gets what.

Outside of peronismo, La Libertad Avanza also wants its share. According to reports, they are claiming the tercera and sexta vicepresidencias. The former libertarians of Kikuchi already have the quinta.

Insiders say that nothing is finalized yet. Some speak of 'uncertainty,' others of 'approaches' in the coming days. But the reality is that if there is no consensus before the 26th, the session will be a disaster. Additionally, they also need to elect a new secretario legislativo because Luis Lata, who held the position, passed away at the end of January.

The internal conflict had a brief respite with the agreement between Máximo Kirchner and Kicillof regarding the leadership of the PJ, but the Senado promises to be another round of tension. As the saying goes: the hen pecks feather by feather.
