NEW YORK, April 1 (Xinhua) — The U.S. dollar index declined on April 1.

The dollar index, which measures the dollar against six major currencies, fell 0.32% that day, closing at 99.648 at the end of trading on the foreign exchange market.

As of the close of trading on the New York foreign exchange market, 1 euro was exchanged for $1.1607, up from $1.1523 the previous day; 1 British pound was exchanged for $1.3324, up from $1.3189 the previous day.

$1 was exchanged for 158.82 Japanese yen, down from 158.95 yen the previous day; $1 was exchanged for 0.7931 Swiss francs, down from 0.8008 francs the previous day; $1 was exchanged for 1.3895 Canadian dollars, down from 1.3937 CAD the previous day; $1 was exchanged for 9.3935 Swedish kronor, down from 9.4895 the previous day.
