** 【Caixin】** Climate change and the wave of digitalization are both key forces driving economic transformation. It is wrong to set economic growth in opposition to low-carbon development. On March 26, Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (hereinafter referred to as the “AIIB”) and Chair of the Board of Directors, attended the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference and delivered the above remarks.

Zou Jiayi cited examples, saying that economic development and green transition in Asia move side by side. The application of digital technologies improves the production efficiency of clean energy; green energy continues to support data centers, making artificial intelligence even more widespread.

Zou Jiayi also said that strengthening regional cooperation is an important force behind Asia’s dual transition to green and digital. The ASEAN grid initiative is a typical example. This is a plan to connect the power systems of ten ASEAN member countries. It is expected that by 2045, a cross-border interconnected regional power grid system will be established among Southeast Asian countries. The plan will help integrate renewable energy, promote regional integration, and enhance energy security.
