I just found out that Uber launched a new feature in Mexico called 'Fixed Price,' and honestly, it sounds pretty useful. Basically, for 20 pesos, you can lock in the fare for a trip for one hour each day, so you avoid those crazy fluctuations that happen during high demand or rain. If the trip ends up costing less, you get the lower price. Pretty smart.

The thing is, the fixed price stays active for 30 days or until you save 300 pesos, whichever comes first. It only works with UberX and doesn’t include tips. Also, you can have up to four packages at the same time if you have multiple regular routes. The only catch is that if you significantly change the pickup or drop-off point, the protected price might be adjusted.

Now, access isn’t available to everyone. You need to receive a direct invitation from Uber to use Fixed Price. Once you have it, open the app, go to 'Account' > 'Uber Packages,' select your usual route, choose the time, and you're all set. Packages don’t renew automatically, so you need to keep an eye on it.

It seems Uber is trying to improve its image in Mexico. Recently, they partnered with OXXO to integrate products into Eats, and now with this Fixed Price feature, they aim to give users more certainty. All this while Mexican authorities are tightening inspections on digital platforms. I guess it’s their strategy to gain more trust. Have you already gotten access to this?
