Anthropic has released "Claude Version Lobster."

According to official statements, Claude's computer usage capabilities now allow it to directly control your computer—opening software, browsing the web, filling out forms, organizing files, and even helping you fix code. These functions are highly similar to Lobster's capabilities. However, Lobster is popular but has high open-source barriers, deployment hassles, and security risks, so many people are hesitant to fully adopt it. In contrast, Claude is built-in, ready to use out of the box, with each step confirmable and equipped with safety barriers. Its accessibility and security features definitely represent an upgrade.

Of course, this is just the starting point of competition, because Claude's computer usage features are still in early preview. They are slow, prone to errors, limited in functionality, and not yet available to all users. There's still a long way to go before it can truly surpass Lobster. But the direction of AI evolution is already clear: soon, you’ll be able to speak to your phone, and the software, files, and browsers on your computer will automatically coordinate and run. This turning point is arriving faster than expected. As for who will ultimately win—open-source geek ecosystems or big tech companies' native integrations—I think it’s likely that both will develop in parallel, each taking their own path. But for ordinary users, more choices, lower barriers, and better security are ultimately a good thing.
