South Korean AI startup Upstage is in discussions with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to acquire 10,000 MI355 AI accelerators, aiming to enhance its domestic compute capacity and diversify from Nvidia. This move supports Upstage’s participation in a government-backed contest to develop national AI foundation models. Meanwhile, AMD anticipates first-quarter revenue of approximately $9.8 billion, including $100 million from China-related AI chip sales.
