I just realized that we are already in spring, which started a little over a week ago, and honestly, the changes are noticeable. Temperatures are rising every day, trees are filling with new leaves, and you see people on the street enjoying the good weather. Interestingly, how long spring lasts is something many people don’t know exactly.

Spring actually lasts about three months, 92 days and 17 hours to be precise. It began on March 20th, when the spring equinox occurred exactly at 10:46 AM in the eastern time zone. At that moment, the Sun crosses the celestial equator, causing us to have nearly equal hours of daylight and darkness. From there, the days gradually get longer.

The curious thing is that the length of spring isn’t always the same because the Gregorian calendar doesn’t perfectly match the Earth's movement around the Sun. That’s why every four years there are leap years that adjust for this difference. As a result, spring can start on March 19th, 20th, or 21st depending on the year.

The season ends on June 20th when summer begins. Meanwhile, plants bloom, animals start their reproductive cycles, and basically everything reactivates after winter. It’s one of those times of the year when you really notice the changes in nature. Do you already feel the difference in the climate where you live?
