Ju Jingyi's tax evasion scandal has been resolved! Official media personally announced it with great fanfare, and what was said 11 years ago has been proven true.

The numbers thrown out in the complaint letter left the onlooking crowd completely baffled. Written in black and white, it claims that Ji Jingyi reported total declared income for the full year of 2024 of 11 million yuan, but for just the second half of the year, her involvement in film and TV and business events exceeded 20 activities—conservatively estimated, her actual income was no less than 50 million yuan. The underreporting rate is as high as nearly 88%! If this is true, the back taxes plus penalties would probably amount to an astronomical figure. But who would have thought that this “show” that looked like ironclad evidence was put out in the span of 24 hours with a single slap from the authorities.

On March 30, a real-name举报 letter targeting Ji Jingyi exploded online. The complainant directly accused her of allegedly evading huge amounts of taxes and failing to pay them properly; the materials even listed income details clearly and specifically. The remuneration for 《Yuelin Qiji》 is 16 million yuan; magazine-shooting income often runs close to 10 million yuan; business activities range from several hundred thousand to over one million. The allegations are sharp, and the numbers are staggering.

The storm came fast, and it also passed quickly. Only a day later, on the evening of March 31, the notice from the Investigation Bureau of the Shanghai Municipal Taxation Bureau of the State Taxation Administration was released. The notice spelled it out clearly: starting from September 2025, they had received multiple similar complaint leads; they carefully reviewed each one—but what were the results? They found no tax-related issues reflected in the complaint. This complaint, because it did not provide any new and valid leads, is a repeated complaint regarding matters that had already been investigated and concluded, and will not be accepted according to law.

In other words, the authorities had already checked it more than once, and the conclusion in every case was, “No problem.” This highly publicized complaint didn’t even have the qualification to be filed for investigation in the tax authorities.

Why would a complaint letter that seems so fierce end up getting “slapped in the face” by the official so quickly? The answer is hidden in another war that has been going on for nearly two years—the contractual dispute between Ji Jingyi and her former agency, Siba Media.

The core of the parties’ conflict is simply: “Does the contract still have validity?” Ji Jingyi’s side believes that her 《Exclusive Artist Contract》 with Siba expired and was terminated as early as June 2024. But Siba doesn’t agree—they presented a 《Supplementary Agreement》 signed on September 10, 2018, insisting that the contract was extended to August 2033.

The key point is whether the signature attributed to “Ji Jingyi” on this 《Supplementary Agreement》 is truly hers. The court commissioned professional institutions to conduct handwriting authentication twice, and both times the conclusion was “unable to determine that the signature was written by Ji Jingyi herself.” Siba’s own one-sided authentication said the handwriting matches, but it was not adopted by the judicial authorities. This matter became a “case of conflicting accounts,” with no final legal conclusion to this day.

When talks over the contract fell apart, the conflict kept escalating. In December 2025, Siba Media issued a stern “final notice,” warning that real-name举报 should be made regarding “alleged serious economic crimes.” So when the tax complaint appeared on March 30, many people had the same question in their hearts: is this truly justice and supervision, or a carefully orchestrated commercial battle?

What’s interesting is that after the tax authorities’ notice said “no issues were found,” Siba Media quickly released a statement distancing itself from the matter. The key line was simply: “Our company is not the party making the complaint.” Where did those detailed income figures on the complaint letter come from? They didn’t explain.

In this turmoil, the most dramatic change happened on Ji Jingyi’s social media account. As a rule, once she is pulled into a tax dispute, damage to her image and a drop in followers would be the norm. But the data shows that in these days while the storm was brewing, her number of fans actually didn’t decline—it increased. In the past 30 days, she gained more than 170,000 followers; on just March 31, the day of the official notice clearing her name, she gained 30,000 followers. Some netizens joked that this was essentially a “crisis PR” operation turned into a “fan-attraction event.”

Even more thought-provoking is the timing. This wave of complaint storm happened right before the scheduled April 1 premiere of her new drama, 《Yuelin Qiji》. On March 26, Siba Media had just issued a statement denying any reconciliation with Ji Jingyi, and directly stated that 《Yuelin Qiji》 was paused for broadcast due to “infringement and disputes.” A few days later, the tax complaint arrived. Such a coincidence is hard not to make people connect the dots.

Looking back, this whole affair looks a lot like a passage she said 11 years ago. Back then, she was participating in Siba’s general election, and when talking about dealing with grievances and setbacks, she said, “I know some things aren’t so easy to explain; I’m just wasting unnecessary talk. Do what needs to be done. As for those emotions, I have them too, but I hold them in.” Many people back then thought it was just an inspirational pep talk for fans. But now, seen again, it carries a sense of clarity and stubbornness that has been tempered by reality.

From the controversy over her “Four-thousand-year beauty” label, to the contract war where she tore things apart with her former agency, and then to this thunderous tax complaint that was quickly reversed again—the way things have unfolded suggests Ji Jingyi has been consistently proving this philosophy of “actions speak louder than arguments.” The official notice gave her a clean bill of health; fans cast votes with their attention. And that long war between her and Siba over a single contract is still ongoing.
