National Bureau of Statistics: China's Manufacturing PMI in March was 50.4%, indicating a recovery in business activity level

Beijing Business Daily reported by (reporter He Yue) On March 31, the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released China’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) for March.

The data show that in March, the manufacturing PMI was 50.4%, up 1.4 percentage points from the previous month, above the critical point. The level of manufacturing business confidence rebounded.

By firm size, the PMI for large enterprises was 51.6%, up 0.1 percentage points from the previous month, above the critical point; the PMIs for medium-sized and small enterprises were 49.0% and 49.3%, respectively, up 1.5 and 4.5 percentage points from the previous month, both below the critical point.

By category, among the five sub-indices that make up the manufacturing PMI, the production index and the new orders index were both above the critical point, while the raw materials inventory index, the employment index, and the supplier delivery time index were all below the critical point.

The production index was 51.4%, up 1.8 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that manufacturing production activities accelerated. The new orders index was 51.6%, up 3.0 percentage points from the previous month, indicating that the market demand for manufacturing improved markedly in business conditions.
