The Middle East situation pushes up fuel prices, with German gas stations limited to one price increase per day.

Driven by the Middle East conflict, German diesel and regular gasoline prices have recently risen sharply. On March 30 local time, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs said that the restriction measures targeting fuel stations raising fuel prices multiple times within a single day will take effect on April 1. Under the new rules, fuel stations will only be able to raise fuel prices once per day, at 12:00 noon, but price cuts may still be made at any time. The German government said the move is intended to curb extreme fuel price volatility and improve price transparency. A spokesperson for the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs said the regulation is part of the “Fuel Measures Package” that the German government and parliament have recently pushed to pass.
