I just saw an obituary that Jennifer Runyon has passed away at the age of 65. You might not remember her name, but if you've seen the classic comedy "Ghostbusters" (1984), she’s the female student at the beginning who is psychologically tested by Bill Murray. That scene is brief, but Jennifer Runyon left an impression in that film.
Her career was actually quite interesting. The 1980s was her most active period. Besides "Ghostbusters," she also played a significant role in the TV sitcom "Charles in Charge," which was very popular at the time. Jennifer Runyon also appeared in hit shows like "Quantum Leap" and "Murder, Written." Following a typical path, she could have continued her career in Hollywood.
But she made an uncommon choice later on—after marrying basketball coach Todd Corman in 1991, she moved from Hollywood to Idaho and Oregon to raise their two children. Many years later, she returned to Los Angeles to care for her parents. Over time, Jennifer Runyon gradually stepped away from the entertainment industry and later became a teacher. In a 2014 interview, she mentioned that she had almost retired from acting.
This weekend, news broke that Jennifer Runyon passed away after a brief battle with cancer. Her daughter wrote on social media: "All the best qualities in you come from you." It’s a bit heartwarming.
