What a great match in Miami between Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. La Vinotinto lost 7-5 at loanDepot Park, but brother, this was much more than just a simple result. Both teams entered the game undefeated and with rosters full of Major League Baseball stars, so we knew it was going to be intense.
The start was like a movie: Juan Soto opened with a two-run homer, and then Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit another home run. It looked like the Dominican Republic was going to drag Venezuela down, but La Vinotinto didn’t back down. Ronald Acuña Jr. and Luis Arráez ignited the home team, scoring in the third inning and making it 4-3. But then Fernando Tatis Jr. came through with a three-run blast that extended the lead to 7-3 and almost gave us a scare.
From that moment on, the Venezuelan bullpen was solid, keeping the team alive. The offense kept attacking, adding two more runs and making it 7-5, but it wasn’t enough. What’s interesting is that this had happened before: in 2023, they also faced off in Miami, and then Venezuela took the win. Now the Dominican Republic returned the favor in a very similar context, with both teams showing a brutal level. Anyway, both teams were already qualified, so the quarterfinals are going to be fiery.
