I've been using various neural networks for photo homework for a couple of years now — honestly, they save me when I need to quickly understand a problem. I decided to share which services actually work and which are so-so.
I'll start with the obvious: Photomath and Mathway are classics. Point your camera at the problem, and within seconds, you see not only the answer but also all the steps to solve it. They handle printed formulas well, but sometimes glitch with handwriting. Both require a paid subscription for full analysis, but the basic functionality works.
If you need to solve homework from photos not just in math, then MathGPT is a better option. You can upload physics or chemistry problems, and it will analyze them step-by-step. Free, no registration needed, but the interface is in English — it might be inconvenient for younger students.
Wolfram|Alpha is for more serious tasks. It doesn’t just give answers but builds graphs, solves integrals, and provides proofs. Ideal for college students and high schoolers. However, photo recognition is only available in the paid version; the free version only processes text.
Symbolab is similar to Mathway but focuses more on formulas. It shows each step clearly, includes notes and exercises. Suitable for those who not only want answers but also want to understand how to solve problems.
For versatility, I recommend BotHub or Gauth. They have access to multiple AI models, so you can choose which neural network best fits your task. Gauth covers not only math but also languages, biology, economics — a universal assistant for photo homework in any subject.
And then there's Nano Banana Pro — something from the future. It can not only solve problems but also rewrite them in your handwriting or turn them into diagrams. But that’s more for experiments.
In general, if you're in a hurry — Photomath or Mathway. If you need versatility across different subjects — Gauth or BotHub. For serious math — Wolfram|Alpha or Symbolab. The choice depends on what exactly you need to solve.
