Russian President Vladimir Putin said on April 1 that the situation in Iran has a direct impact on energy markets and on the transportation of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, and that Russia can offer solutions to the world. According to a message from the Russian president’s website, Putin stated in a video address at the opening of the first Russia International Transport and Logistics Forum held that day that the global transport and logistics sector is undergoing profound changes and facing serious geopolitical challenges. The situation in Iran has already had a direct impact on energy markets and on the transportation of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz. Putin pointed out that more and more countries and companies are paying attention not only to transportation speed and cost but also to the safety and sustainability of transport routes and supply chains. He said that Russia is willing to play an important role in building a new global logistics and international trade framework and can provide solutions for the world. The first Russia International Transport and Logistics Forum was held in Saint Petersburg from April 1 to 3. (Xinhua News Agency)
