Just realized a lot of people still don't know the proper way to update their SASSA details, especially if you're on the SRD grant. Been seeing posts about payment issues, and half the time it's because folks haven't updated their banking info correctly.
So here's the thing - if you're getting the SRD R370, the whole process is online which is honestly way easier than the permanent grants. You go to the official SASSA SRD portal, enter your ID number, and they send you a secure link via SMS. Then you just input your new bank details (has to be in your name, obviously). Takes a few days to weeks for the bank to verify everything, but at least you can do it from your phone.
The tricky part? Making sure your cellphone number is updated too because that's how they send you the verification link. If your number changes or got stolen, you need to update that first. There's a dedicated contact portal where you enter your ID and Application ID, put in the new number, and they send you an OTP to confirm. Sounds simple but people mess this up all the time.
One heads up though - don't trust random websites claiming to help you update SRD bank details. Stick to the official SASSA portal or call their helpline if you're stuck. The whole system's designed to be secure, so just follow the official steps and you should be good. Anyone else had issues with the update process?
