【Caixin Media】 In 2022, the “ChatGPT moment” changed the trajectory of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry. At the Boao Forum for Asia 2026 Annual Conference on March 25, industry experts held lively discussions about when the “ChatGPT moment” for humanoid robots would arrive.

Among them, Wang Xiaogang, co-founder of SenseTime and chairman of BigThink Robotics, offered the most optimistic prediction of the whole session: the humanoid robots’ “ChatGPT moment” will arrive in two years, that is, from 2027. At that time, through an environment-based rapid data collection approach, the amount of data in the robotics industry, currently on the order of 100,000 hours, will increase to 10 million hours.

Wang Xiaogang added that the industry’s arrival of a “ChatGPT moment” actually means that the technical roadmap has become certain—expanding the data scale along a particular technical route increases the scale of the model, and will also be able to generate returns.
