Jordan Condemns Israel's Death Penalty Law For Palestinian Detainees

(MENAFN- Amman Net) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned, in the strongest possible terms, the Israeli Knesset’s ratification of a law providing for the execution of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, describing the move as a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law.

The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, affirmed the Kingdom’s absolute rejection and condemnation of this “racist, discriminatory, and illegal” legislation. He emphasized that the law contravenes the rules of international law, which prohibit an occupying power from imposing control over occupied territories through its own legislative frameworks.

Al-Majali stated that this law is part of a systematic Israeli policy targeting the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights, foremost of which is the right to self-determination and the realization of an independent Palestinian state on national soil, in accordance with the two-state solution.

Concluding the statement, the spokesperson called upon the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities. He urged immediate and effective global action to prevent Israel from proceeding with the law’s implementation and to compel the occupying power to halt its void decisions and illegal unilateral practices that threaten the Palestinian presence on their land.
