In the afternoon, A-shares remained in a weak range-bound move. As of the time of this report, the Shanghai Composite Index was down slightly, the Shenzhen Component Index was down more than 1%, and the ChiNext Index was down more than 2%.
Hong Kong stocks weakened as well. The Hang Seng Tech Index once fell by more than 1%, before the decline narrowed. BYD Electronic fell by more than 6% during the session; Leapmotor and Hanhwa Semicon fell by more than 3%.
The optical communications theme surged. After the afternoon session, Tecon Information (000070) and Opto-Electronics Shares (600184) hit the daily limit. Hangzhou Dian, Fiberhome Technologies, and others also moved up in tandem.
On the news front, a research report from China Securities Construction Investment Co., Ltd. said that in February, China exported 3,779.9 tons of optical fiber with a value of 790 million yuan, up 63.6% and 126.8% year over year, respectively. If converted into kilometer figures, in February China exported about 25.2 million fiber-kilometers of optical fiber, accounting for about 65% of China’s effective monthly optical fiber production.
The motorcycle concept saw a late-session uptick. As of the time of this report, Hongchang Technology hit the 20% daily limit, Huayang Racing was up more than 10%, and Qianjiang Motor and others also rose.
On the news front, as of Beijing time on March 28, at the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) venue, the Chinese motorcycle brand Zhang Xueji Motorcycle won the race with an absolute advantage of nearly 4 seconds, breaking the decades-long monopoly in this category held by international heavyweights such as Ducati in one fell swoop.
