China's March non-manufacturing PMI rises to 50.1, returning to expansion territory

Gelonghui, March 31 | China’s non-manufacturing PMI for March was 50.1 (vs. expectations of 49.9), up 0.6 percentage points from the previous month. It was above the critical level, indicating an improvement in non-manufacturing business sentiment.

By industry, the business activity index for the construction sector was 49.3%, up 1.1 percentage points from the previous month; the business activity index for the services sector was 50.2%, up 0.5 percentage points from the previous month. In terms of services industries, the business activity indexes for industries such as rail transport, telecom broadcasting and television and satellite transmission services, monetary and financial services, insurance, etc. were all in the relatively strong range of 55.0% or above; meanwhile, the business activity indexes for industries such as retail, accommodation, food and beverage, real estate, etc. were all below the critical level.
