Microsoft has launched Copilot Cowork, a new capability within Microsoft 365 designed for autonomous agentic automation of “long-running, multistep tasks.” Unlike previous Copilot versions focused on generative tasks, Cowork allows users to delegate complex workflows, with the AI creating and executing plans across Microsoft 365 applications, while still allowing for human oversight. A key strength is its multi-model approach, integrating OpenAI’s GPT and Anthropic’s Claude to improve accuracy and reduce “hallucinations” through a critique layer and model council feature.
