NIMO's first smart glasses will be released, emphasizing ultra-lightweight design
The smart glasses sector is seeing a new entrant. The local brand NIMO is set to release its first smart glasses, aiming to use core technology innovations to reshape the wearing experience and push smart glasses from “geek toys” into the mainstream consumer market. The product focuses on extreme lightweight design. It uses a 0.03cc ultra-microscopic optical engine (about one-fifth the size of a typical optical engine), paired with Micro LED chips that can be concealed within the eyeglass hinges. Through a distributed counterbalance design to achieve weight balance, and with β-titanium alloy frame arms that adapt to different head shapes, it ensures comfortable all-day wear. In terms of privacy protection, it uses full-body holographic waveguide technology to ensure information is only visible to the wearer, together with a no-camera design to fit a wide range of privacy-sensitive scenarios. It also supports correction for up to 800 degrees of myopia, 200 degrees of hyperopia, and astigmatism. It is reported that the NIMO team has nearly 20 years of R&D experience, and will launch the product by leveraging shareholders’ offline store resources. Industry insiders believe that by breaking away from the “specs-stuffed” hardware approach and returning to the essence of eyeglasses, it may provide a new path for industry-wide adoption.
