【Caixin Global】“In today’s turbulent global situation, full of uncertainty, the message London wants to convey is clear: openness—welcoming investment from China and from around the world.” At the just-concluded 2026 first Overseas Investment and Integrated Services Conference, during the special forum “Taking London to Go Global, Connecting to the World,” Neil Brigden, Director of Foreign Direct Investment at the London Development Promotion Agency, said that London is Europe’s leading destination for investment. From a global perspective, the scale of international firms’ investment attracted by London ranks just behind Singapore (possibly also Dubai), placing it roughly second worldwide.

London is also an important destination for Chinese capital and Chinese companies “going global.” Neil noted that, when comparing global cities, London ranks sixth worldwide in the number of investment projects it receives from China—making it the European city that attracts the most Chinese investment. Currently, nearly 1,000 Chinese companies or China-funded companies operate in the UK, and London is their primary hub for business and activities.
