I just discovered that creating a token is ridiculously easy and virtually free. I've been researching platforms for a few days, and it turns out that Pump.Fun on Solana is the best option if you want to create a token without spending a fortune.
What surprised me the most is that the entire process takes less than a minute. You only need a wallet that supports Solana (like Phantom), a few dollars in SOL, and you're set. Connect your wallet to Pump.Fun, choose a name, ticker, description, upload an image, and confirm. The cost is just about $3. So technically, you can create a token for almost nothing.
Of course, the hard part isn't technical but getting people interested. The example of the MADRE token launched in May 2024 on Solana makes this clear. It started at $0.0005 and reached $0.24 in days. There are users who invested $900 and withdrew $600,000. Others invested $3,000 and made 9 million. But that's the exception, not the rule.
What I liked about Pump.Fun is that it has protections against scammers. You can't add malicious functions to the token code like you could on other platforms. You can see the largest holders on the main page, so before buying, you know if there are suspicious wallets. That significantly reduces the risk.
The strategy then would be: first, use the platform regularly, make transactions of at least $50-100. Second, try creating several tokens yourself. And third, keep your wallet funded with Solana. There are rumors that they will do an airdrop in the future, so if you meet these requirements, you have a better chance of receiving it.
Now, the real challenge in creating a successful token is promotion on social media. Your coin appears in the Pump.Fun feed, but tokens are literally released every second. If you manage to get your token to $69k a certain market cap, it will automatically be listed on Raydium, which is the main DEX on Solana. That’s practically the point of no return, confirmed success.
But here’s the important part: most of these tokens are pure scams that disappear minutes after launch. Creators artificially pump the price and then dump everything. So even though creating a token is easy, investing in them is another story. You need a community, real promotion, and a project that makes sense. Without that, it’s just throwing money away.
