** 【Caixin】**Climate change and the digitalization wave are both key forces driving economic transformation. It is wrong to set economic growth against low-carbon development. On March 26, Zuo Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (hereinafter referred to as the “AIIB”) and Chairman of the Board of Directors, attended the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia and delivered the above remarks.

Zuo Jiayi cited as an example that economic development and green transition are advancing side by side in Asia. The application of digital technologies improves the production efficiency of clean energy; green energy continues to support data centers, making artificial intelligence ever more widely adopted.

Zuo Jiayi also said that strengthening regional cooperation is an important force behind Asia’s efforts to promote both green and digital dual transitions. The ASEAN Power Grid initiative is a case in point. This is a plan to connect the power systems of ten ASEAN member countries. It is expected that by 2045, a cross-border interconnected regional power grid system will be established between Southeast Asian countries. The initiative will help integrate renewable energy, promote regional integration, and enhance energy security.
